Tri-Valley Haven Seeking Thrift Store and Food Pantry Volunteers

For over 40 years, Tri-Valley Haven has honored its mission of contributing towards a healthier and safer community by remaining a loyal provider of safety-net services for the Livermore, Dublin and Pleasanton area. The Haven’s ongoing work in the community is made possible with the help of our dedicated volunteers. In order to continue providing food, shelter, and support for people in need, the Haven is seeking regular volunteers at our Thrift Store and Food Pantry.

Workshop to Discuss Preventing Bird Deaths

Virulent Newcastle Disease (VND) has already resulted in California quarantines and caused more than one million bird deaths this year. Officials have not seen an outbreak this concerning since 2003.

Session to Offer Immigration Information

The Livermore Civic Center Library is hosting a free Immigration 101 information session on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The session will be held at the Civic Center Library, located at 1188 S. Livermore Avenue, Livermore. Presented in English by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Community Relations Officer Jennifer LaForce, the session will feature a discussion of immigration status, humanitarian programs, and pathways to citizenship.

Literacy Tutors Sought

The Livermore Library is seeking volunteers to become literacy tutors. No previous experience is necessary. Free tutor training is given by the Literacy department and after completing tutor training, volunteers are paired with an adult learner. Pairs typically meet at the local library once or twice weekly for one to two hours each meeting.
