The Amador Valley High School Wind Ensemble with 95 kids, under the direction of Mr Jonathan Grantham and Mr Patrick Dandrea visited New York and played at Carnegie Hall on Sunday April 8th. The Ensemble received outstanding feedback, called "one of the top five high school band programs in the United States."

Jason Noble, a Conductor at Columbia University, New York gave the following feedback on AVHS Wind Ensemble, "Some bands play really technically well—presenting a veritable 'Doctor Beat' wall of precision that fails to emotionally and spiritually connect on a deeper level to the music. Other bands play beautifully expressive and heartfelt, but they lack precision, sparkle, and fortitude to push through challenging passages.

"Sometimes a band comes along that can do both—and do both so well that when I close my eyes, I hear mature sounds that far exceed the chronological years of the musicians in the chairs. I experienced that today. The Amador Valley HS Wind Ensemble is, I firmly believe, one of the top five high school band programs in the United States," he stated.
