The latest government report warns of dire consequences if action is not taken to curb activities that have led to climate change.

It predicts more powerful storms, floods and fires already costing lives, as well as damaging regional and national infrastructure and the economy. The effects of a changing climate could reduce the nation's gross domestic product by one-tenth or more.
