If we are to understand homelessness we need valid data. We have the annual Point-In-Time Count and even though it is a considerable undercount, it is something to go on. The count for Livermore is 243 for 2017. Likewise, we have data to understand human-induced climate change. We know that humans are emitting over 36 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide per year globally. We know that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas of relatively long persistence. We know that human-emitted carbon dioxide is increasing the thermal (heat) energy overall on the surface of the Earth. We know this is affecting wildfires by the data on the increased acreage burned overall, the increased intensity of the fires, and the increased damage in some of the warmest years on record. (Film: “Wilder Than Wild: Fire, Forests and the Future." Saturday, April 20, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Livermore Civic Center Library.)

We take data to make information. We take information to make informed decisions, and there seems no better way to do this than peer-reviewed science.
