Two candidates for the states’s 16th Assembly District are running, Democrat Joan Buchanan, the incumbent, and Republican Al Phillips.

Buchanan was elected to the Assembly in 2008, representing the 16th District. Following realignment, she now represents the 15th. Dublin, Livermore and Pleasanton are included in the 16th District, which stretches as far north as Lafayette.
