The 80th annual edition of the Pleasanton Rose Show will be limited to online pictures this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the statewide shelter-at-home order.

The Pleasanton Library and Recreation Department is encouraging local gardeners to send pictures of their favorite roses to Terry Snyder at by Friday, May 8, to have it included in the virtual exhibit. Gardeners should include the grower’s name and the type of rose, if known.

The Pleasanton Rose Show was inspired by Harry Harding, a banker at the Pleasanton Bank, who would give his customers rose bushes to show his appreciation for their patronage. His customers returned the favor by bringing back blooms for him. This year’s online show, will be available at beginning Saturday, May 9.
