Suzi Parron, co-author of “The Story of the American Quilt Trail,” will be the guest speaker at the Feb. 8 general meeting of the Amador Valley Quilters.
The American Quilt Trail, featuring large, colorful quilt patterns displayed on barns, is one of the fastest-growing public arts movements in the U.S. and Canada. The movement was started in 2001 by Donna Sue Groves to honor the quilting art of her mother. Groves collaborated with Parron on “The Story of the American Quilt Trail.”
Parron will display more than 100 barn quilt photos and discuss some of the stories behind them. The Amador Valley Quilters are temporarily meeting at Phoebe Heast Elementary School, 5301 Case Avenue, in Pleasanton. The meeting will run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. until further notice.
