On Dec. 14, starting at 9:45 a.m., Hope Hospice will offer a free presentation for family caregivers, “Healthful Meal Planning for the Elderly and Chronically Ill.” Registration is required, as seating is limited.
Planning and preparing healthful meals for loved ones is one of the many challenges faced by family caregivers. Hope’s Registered Dietitian and Community Health Educator, Terry Stowell, will share valuable information about caring for the nutritional needs of elderly and/or chronically ill adults, including:
(1) Identifying the obstacles to healthful eating,
(2) Avoiding deficiencies and nutrition-related disorders and (3) Diets for special conditions including dementia, diabetes, and cancer.
This class will take place at the Hope Hospice office located at 6377 Clark Avenue, 2nd floor, in Dublin 94568. Free parking is available on site. Coffee and light refreshments are served at 9:45 a.m. and the class is in session from 10 a.m. to noon. An optional caregiver support group convenes after class from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Bring your own bag lunch if desired. Classes in Hope’s Family Caregiver Education Series are offered to the community for free, though donations to Hope Hospice are gratefully accepted and help us offset costs of running the program.
