Five young Alameda County authors, including one from Pleasanton, received top awards this year in the Alameda County Fair creative writing competition.
Kelly Feng, from Pleasanton, took first in Best Creative Writing, Grades 6-8, for the story “Many Kind Hands.”
Other first place winners were:
Rachel Hernandez, from San Leandro, Best Open Youth Creative Writing, Ages 9-12, for “Carla’s New Job.”
Jeshua Wickham, from Martinez, Best Open Youth Creative Writing, Ages 13-17, for “The American Revolution.”
Alyssa Liu, from Fremont, Best Education Poem, Grades K-5, for “Corona Virus Poem.”
Siya Singh, from Fremont, Best Education Short Story, Grades K-5, for “The Lemonade Escape.”
The Tri-Valley branch of the California Writers Club sponsored cash awards of $20-$25 dollars for the winner.
