Mark Brunell, a professor of biology at the University of the Pacific, will lead a walk for nature lovers along the Arroyo Bike Trail, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28.
Brunell will discuss the natural history of the cultivated, native, and weedy plant species growing along the trail.
Nature lovers should meet by the circular seating area in front of Livermore’s Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue. The walk, sponsored by the library, will last approximately two hours. Walkers should wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection and water. Participants are asked to sign-up by calling (925) 373-5505.
Brunell, a Livermore resident, holds a doctorate in botany and plant sciences. He is past president of both the Alameda County Master Gardener advisory board and the California Botanical Society.
