Star Wars Day
The Livermore Public Library will host Star Wars Day from 1-4 p.m., on Saturday, May 9, at the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Avenue.
The day will feature science activities, games, and crafts with a Star Wars theme, along with the opportunity to meet Star Wars characters in costume. There will also be a special children’s Jedi Training Academy Class starting at 1 p.m.
The program is free and open to all ages; no registration is required. However, a ticket is required to attend the Jedi Training Academy class because of space limitations. Free tickets may be picked 30 minutes before the class at the Civic Center Library Youth Room Desk.
Drop-In Computer Basics
The Livermore Public Library will offer free, drop-in basic computer sessions at the Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave., beginning Tuesday, March 3.
There will be three sessions per month: 10 – 11 a.m., the first Tuesday of the month; 2 – 3 p.m., the first Wednesday of the month; and 7 – 8 p.m., the first Thursday of the month.
Two tutors will be available at every session to teach participants the basic skills to operate a computer. Topics will include creating and using an email account, printing documents, searching the Internet, using the digital library, and using a mouse and keyboard. Tutors can also connect participants with library resources that can help them learn more advanced skills.
Registration is not required. Participants will be helped on a first-come, first-served basis. Library laptops will be available for use during the program. For more information, contact Caitlyn Lung at (925) 373-5576, or go to www.livermorelibrary.net.
