Pictured are, left to right, Tim, John, and Mark.

John, Mark and Tim Lester, sons of Tim and Elizabeth Lester of Pleasanton, have each earned their Eagle Scout award. John and Mark are twins. Tim is a year younger. They will be honored together at a joint Eagle Scout Court of Honor to be scheduled this summer. All three are members of Pleasanton’s Troop 908.

John and Mark are juniors at Amador Valley High School and Tim is a sophomore for the coming school year. John and Tim (not twins) are on the Amador Varsity Track team and competed in State finals. Mark is a member of the Amador Valley Marching Band. All three boys enjoy the outdoors, as evidenced by the participation in scouting, and also enjoy traveling. All of the boys have plans to attend a four year college and John and Tim would like to continue running track there.

All three have held numerous offices in the troop, including patrol leaders, Senior Patrol Leader for troop campouts and Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders. The Lester’s are a Scouting family. Their dad, Tim, is an Assistant Scoutmaster and Elizabeth served as secretary of the troop committee. Their youngest son is a Cub Scout in Pack 948. His dad is Assistant Cubmaster and mom is his Den Leader. The whole family has been involved with and enjoys the scouting program.

For his Eagle project, John completed a landscaping project for St. Augustine Catholic Church in Pleasanton. Mark built Umpire Equipment Storage Units for the Pleasanton Little League. Tim constructed helmet shelves for two baseball dugouts at Ken Mercer Sports Park.

Troop 908 is sponsored by St. Clare’s Episcopal Church.

To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must be active in their troop, provide leadership, earn 21 merit badges including the areas of citizenship, camping, communications, cooking and lifesaving or emergency preparedness as well as demonstrate that they live by the principles of the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

A Scout must also plan, develop and give leadership to others in a service project benefiting a religious institution, school or community group.

Anyone interested in joining any level of Scouting can contact the Twin Valley District Executive, Matt Lindberg, matt.lindberg@scouting.org.
