Anthony Mitine, a member of Troop 908 in Pleasanton, has been awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle project, Mitine, who will be a junior at Foothill High School, led fellow Scouts and adult volunteers in creating an interactive nature display for the Alviso Adobe Visitor Center in Pleasanton.
The display includes a plexiglass-covered exhibit showcasing bird nests, and a second hands-on display that encourages visitors to examine feathers, snake skins, and animal pelts. The bird nest display was stenciled with a woodland background by Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 943, while three tactile boxes, depicting nature scenes, were painted by Foothill High School students.
In addition to Scouting, serving as a patrol leader and mentoring Cub Scouts, Mitine is a member of the VEX Robotics Club and Inventor’s Club at Foothill, helps organize Bay Area hackathons, and is involved in autonomous power racing. The son of Irina and Oleg Mitine of Pleasanton, he is also a part-time tennis instructor at Lifetime Activities.
Mitine received his Eagle award during an online Court of Honor. Troop 908 is sponsored by St. Clare Episcopal Church.
