The Pleasanton Library is now offering online registration to obtain a library card. Known as “eCard,” a new webpage streamlines the registration process for new members and provides immediate access to the library’s digital content providers.
In the past, prospective library members were required to fill out a paper registration, which was then processed by library staff. With eCard, registrations take place entirely online, and once registered, members receive instant, 30-day access to the all of the library’s eBooks and streaming content.
eCard registrants can then visit the library to pick up their library cards with full borrowing privileges to all the library’s materials.
“eCard is a technology we’ve wanted for a long time,” said Tim Johnston, senior librarian for the Technical Services division. “Our dream is for every resident of Pleasanton who doesn’t yet have a library card to be able to get one with the help of eCard.”
The online registration form is available at: www.cityofpleasantonca.gov/gov/depts/lib/account/library_card_registration.asp.
