The Special Olympics Torch will be traveling through Livermore and Pleasanton on Monday, June 17, starting at the Livermore Police Department at 10 am. Local police officers participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, moving the torch through selected cities as it makes its way to the Special Olympic Summer Games in Davis June 21-23. Ryan Butterly, an adult Special Olympic Athlete from Livermore, shows up year after year to support and run with the Livermore police officers. Ryan takes classes at Las Positas College, and just bought his first home in Livermore in April. In the photo, from 2012, Ryan is holding the torch. (Photo - Wanda Butterly)
