Mummenschanz, a Swiss performance troupe that entertains with masks, movement, and everyday objects, will brings its newest show, “You & Me,” to the Bankhead Theater in Livermore on March 19.
Mummenschanz, known as the “musicians of silence,” was formed in 1972 by a trio of artists who had extensive experience in different disciplines. They were inspired to bring together the traditional art of pantomime with the expressiveness of classical dance, incorporating elements of theater and costuming. Ever since a successful three-year run on Broadway, the group has continued to pioneer their unique form of visual theater that spawned new genres in the art of movement.
“You & Me” brings to life the large-scale masks for which Mummenschanz is known, as well as revives a historic tradition of acrobatics and some classic sketches that have stood the test of time.
The family-friendly performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $20-$75 for adults; $20 for military and students under 21. For tickets or information, call (925) 373-6800 or go to www.lvpac.org.
