The ValleyCare Charitable Foundation last week announced that its Campaign for Stroke Care has exceeded the goal it set in 2018, raising at least $1 million to bring round-the-clock access to life saving stroke treatment for residents of the Tri Valley. It’s an admirable achievement.
Early fundraising culminated last September in the certification of a primary stroke treatment center at Stanford Health Care–ValleyCare medical center in Pleasanton. By reaching the $1 million mark, donors have now secured the hospital’s rehabilitation services as well.
Some 800,000 Americans will suffer strokes in the coming year. Only one in five will reach qualified medical care fast enough to prevent or reduce serious complications. Having this certified and well supported treatment center nearby is a potential blessing to all who live locally, only minutes away.
Our thanks to a generous community, as well as to the fundraisers, medical staff and leadership at ValleyCare.
