From the opening scenes of Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky’s music lays bare the Russian soul. The opera features haunting leitmotifs and beautifully turned musical phrases throughout. It is also the first Livermore Valley Opera production sung in Russian.
Eugene Onegin opened on Sept. 28 at the Bankhead Theater, with two upcoming performances on: Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 6, at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $90. Included in the ticket price are engaging lectures held one hour before show time, along with LVO’s traditional artists’ reception in the lobby immediately following each performance.
The Bankhead is located at 2400 First St., Livermore. To learn more, visit www.LVOpera.com, or call the Bankhead box office at (925) 373-6800.
