In the article “Similarities Seen in Climate Research and Covid-19 Spread,” scientist Ben Santer dumps all guilt on our government and especially President Trump regarding the immediate response to the Covid-19 pandemic in the U.S. This tactic is typical of individuals who refuse to take responsibility for their actions.

As a scientist with 20/20 hindsight, Santer would have been better off not attending the Washington, D.C., meeting. Instead, he should have advised the organizers that, under the circumstances, they should either delay the meeting or have online presentations. Thus, he would have been spared contracting the deadly virus and spreading it to others upon his return. Poor planning and lack of vision.

Mr. Santer, I hope that you recover quickly from your malaise and continue your brave research on climate change. My expectation from you and your colleagues is the soon-as-possible reversal of the warming of the planet with its untoward consequences.
