It’s time to make the switch from oil, tar and coal-based energy sources to renewable energy sources like wind and solar. Dredging the San Francisco Bay in order to accommodate more oil tankers is nothing more than a ticking time bomb for an environmental disaster in our fragile, already stressed ecosystem. Our bay already has enough challenges based on current aquatic uses tied to the Port of Oakland, as well as the population explosion in the entire Bay Area, which adds to the discharges of treated and untreated waters. It’s time to make a truly serious effort to switch much of our power to wind and solar. It’s time to start subsidizing future clean technologies, rather than the destructive oil, tar and coal energy supplies of the past.
