Marine veteran, firefighter, Sony recording artist, first responder, and veteran suicide advocate John Preston embarked on another hike in honor of a retired firefighter that lost his life to suicide, on Sunday Jan. 3. The hike took them along the Stanly Boulevard bike path in Pleasanton, with Team Team Red White and Blue, Ed Smith from Alameda Fire, Erick Mikel with ALCO Fire, while Scott Woodfin and Emilio Tiscareno carried Ed and Erick’s helmets. The event was created by Barney Smith in honor of his father, Edward Smith III, who served as an Alameda Firefighter for 30 years. Barney lost his father to suicide on January 4, 2019.
