The Dublin Unified School District (DUSD) board of trustees will be back up to its full complement of five members, now that voters have chosen Catherine Kuo in Trustee Area 3.
Results won’t be final until Registrar of Voters Tim Dupuis certifies them before the end of November. But it was clear that Kuo, with 78% of the vote, was headed for victory over the other candidate in the contest, Malcolm Norrington.
Kuo emphasized her volunteer work in her children’s schools, at both the elementary and middle school levels. Her professional experience includes human relations, recruiting, business analysis and planning management.
On her campaign website, Kuo promised to “work to alleviate the impact of growth on our high school students by ensuring the completion of the second comprehensive high school, ensuring our limited funds are more effectively distributed to benefit all of Dublin’s students, focusing on school safety procedures – consistent policies and training for all sites.”
Norrington serves as vice-principal at Foothill High School in Pleasanton, and previously was employed as a teacher at Valley Continuation High School in Dublin. He acts as a visiting committee member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, which travels to schools to evaluate and make recommendations for accreditation.
