The City of Dublin has been recognized by CALED, the California Association for Local Economic Development, as part of CALED’s annual Awards of Excellence Program.

The awards were presented at the CALED 39th Annual Conference on March 28, 2019, in Anaheim, California. Hazel L. Wetherford, Economic Development Director, accepted the award on behalf of the City of Dublin.

The City of Dublin received an Award of Merit in the “Economic Development Collaboration” category, which honors development projects between the public and private sector that exemplify the spirit of collaboration, for the Valor Crossing veterans affordable housing development project in Downtown Dublin.

The City of Dublin leveraged its Community Benefit Program to garner the critical land donation from Bay West Development, a private developer, to Eden Housing, a non-profit housing developer. Together, the three organizations built Valor Crossing, a 66-unit veteran’s affordable residential project within walking distance of a BART station, bus lines, and the many shops and restaurants in Downtown Dublin.

In addition to assisting in the revitalization efforts of Downtown Dublin, Valor Crossing provides critical housing to veterans (35 of whom were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless).
