Bay Area corporations are encouraged to get in the Olympic spirit and support the Las Positas College Foundation by participating in the 2018 Bay Area Corporate Games. In an announcement made earlier this month, the LPC Foundation has been selected as one of two partnering recipients of this year's competition.
The games, in partnership with Visit Tri-Valley and designed to give everyday athletes an Olympic experience by providing an opportunity to live a healthy lifestyle, will be held March 15-18 at multiple venues in the Tri-Valley.
Corporate teams can participate in competitions ranging from basketball and volleyball, to a 5K run and cycling. LPC will host the badminton and table tennis contests, in addition to the Registration & Health Expo and the Opening Ceremonies. The games will consist of 14 sporting events held at locations across the East Bay over the four days of competition.
"One of the missions of the Las Positas College Foundation is to highlight the campus as a vital community resource for the Tri-Valley," said Kenneth Cooper, LPC Foundation Executive Director. "Partnering with the Bay Area Corporate Games allows participants and guests to see and experience our excellent facilities. This event will provide much-needed support for students who are working very hard to achieve their educational goals and dreams."
As a recipient, Corporate Games USA - the 2018 Bay Area Corporate Games' production company - will work with the LPC Foundation to establish five scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year, and students will have the chance to network with future employers while gaining experience in event production.
"The LPC Foundation is proud to partner with the 2018 Bay Area Corporate Games," said Cooper. "We are grateful for their investment in LPC student success through the Foundation's scholarship program. Our partnership will provide four $750 scholarships for student-athletes and one $1000 scholarship for a student majoring in a business-related field of study."
Livermore's National Basketball Courts' non-profit, NB Cares, which provides opportunities through sport to underprivileged youth, has also been selected as a partnering recipient of the games.
Corporations are encouraged to assemble competition teams and participate to benefit the two partnering non-profit organizations while having fun and showcasing the Bay Area Olympic Spirit. Visit www.corporategamesusa.com for more information.
