The Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce’s second annual #LivValBiz Awards took place on the evening of October 18.

“The #LivValBiz Awards is the annual program recognizing accomplished member businesses and organizations,” LVCC Chairman of the Board Steve Larranaga told the audience. “We are pleased to host tonight’s event at the iconic Vine Cinema, a beloved 62-year-old Livermore landmark. Its current owner Kenny Way became a chamber member when he purchased The Vine in the early 2000s, after it underwent a big restoration. Growing up in Livermore, Kenny is a great example of the next generation of business leaders remaining in the Livermore Valley. Tonight we will recognize chamber members that are the best and brightest — up and coming as well as established — in their industries.”

Livermore Mayor John Marchand emceed the awards presentation.

“I advocate for the city because when the businesses of my community succeed, my community succeeds. That is what’s key,” Marchand said. “I get to work to create this amazing quality of life we get to enjoy in Livermore, and that’s what attracts the new workforce. When you get really smart people together in a small space, magic can happen. You get great ideas, you get great businesses, and you create great jobs.”

“My favorite moments from the evening were the expressions of surprise and appreciation by award recipients, and their comments on what they value about the chamber and the Livermore Valley community,” said LVCC President and CEO Dawn Argula. “We are fortunate to have a wonderful business community in the Livermore Valley which plays a big role in the economic health of the region, contributing to the quality of life enjoyed by those that live, work and visit here.”

Larranaga agreed. “There was joy and excitement in the room as businesses and individuals were being showcased for their hard work and dedication to what they believe in on a daily basis.”
