One teacher and three administrators in the Pleasanton Unified School District have been nominated by their colleagues for honors that will be awarded by their professional associations.

Diane Farthing, who has taught at Amador High School for the past 15 years, and in the district since 1999, has been nominated for Health Education Teacher of the Year. The award is given by the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (CAHPERD).

Farthing teaches Health, as well as Anatomy & Physiology.

The administrator awards are sponsored by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).

The PUSD administrators nominated for Region 6 honors include Alisal Elementary School Principal Karen Johnson in the Principal’s category; Lydiksen Elementary School Vice-principal Liz Lyons in the co-administrators’ category; and Amador Valley Vice-principal Nimarta Grewal for the Valuing Diversity Award.

The winners will be announced at a Region 6 special event June 20 at Ruby Hill Winery in Pleasanton, where the theme will be “Thriving on the Vine.”
