Effective Friday, June 19, to coincide with Alameda County’s allowance of outdoor dining, the City of Pleasanton will close Main Street to vehicular traffic from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening.
The closure will include the length of Main Street from Bernal Avenue to Del Valle Parkway, with openings for through traffic at St. John and Ray streets and Rose Avenue and Neal Street. The street closure is expected to begin around 2 p.m. on Friday and remain in place through Sunday around 8 p.m., each successive weekend for eight weeks. This could be extended for an additional number of weekends, or reduced, upon agreement of the city and the Pleasanton Downtown Association.
During this street closure, restaurants, retailers and other downtown merchants will be allowed to expand their outdoor footprint to serve customers, following industry guidance (https://covid19.ca.gov/industry-guidance/) and other applicable standards set out by the county and state. Businesses that would like to expand into the street or other public right-of-way should provide a simple site plan as described at bit.ly/Pleasanton_to_Close_Main_Street.
