Paul Preston, president of New California, will be the guest speaker at the Tri-Valley Republicans’ monthly dinner meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Beeb’s Sports Bar and Grill, at the Las Positas Golf Course.

New California is pushing to create a new State of California from parts of the existing state, much like West Virginia was created from the State of Virginia in 1861. Organizers say the movement is in reaction to a “socialist state government that is violating our constitutional rights.”

Preston, a conservative radio talk show host and founder of Agenda 21 Radio, will discuss the need for a New California, and the process spelled out in the U.S. Constitution for potentially carving out a new state. New California published a Declaration of Independence in 2018, citing California’s poor business climate, high taxes, and its failure to follow state and federal constitutions. The California Legislature would have to agree to creating a new state.

The dinner meeting will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. Cost is $30 for TVR members and $35 for guests. Reservations are due by Feb. 11. For more information, call (925) 367-6155, or go to
