Jacquelyn Joy Stearns, a resident of Livermore, died April 19, 2020. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut, Oct. 10, 1929, the only child of Dr. Henry and Esther (Penfield) James. She was a graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and Trinity College in Hartford. She was a chemist at the General Electric Research Laboratory.
Jacquelyn was a member emeritus of the American Chemical Society and a member of the Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She had many interests including architecture and the arts.
She is survived by a son, Glenn Robert Stearns; a granddaughter, Katrina Stearns Slater (Scott); and two great-grandsons, Eli and Everett Slater.
Due to the current environment, there will be no funeral. Interment will be in Simsbury, Connecticut.
