Mr. Palajac was born to Peter and Mary Palajac on November 11, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on January 20, 2017 in Livermore. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946—truly a member of the Greatest Generation. He moved to Southern California in 1948 where he met and fell in love with a beautiful Irish redhead, Una Hunter. They were married in 1949 and there began a 67 year “courtship.” He was an electrical design engineer and worked in the aerospace industry. He was employed by Hughes Aircraft Company in Culver City for 25 years. In 1981 he and his wife moved to Livermore, California when he began working at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and retired from there at the age of 65. He derived much pleasure in tinkering in his garage and watching TV.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew and Joseph and grandson, Nicholas. He is survived by his wife, Una Palajac of Livermore; his seven children and their spouses, Jennifer and Charles Landwehr of Taft, Mark and Jan Palajac, Nancy and John Johnsen, Jo and Jim Lucas all of Livermore, Bill and Tara Palajac of Santa Cruz, Tom and Pam Palajac of Livermore and Stephanie and Todd Schwenk of Placerville; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Patricia Palajac of San Diego; sister-in-law, Patricia Hunter of Downey; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and cousins.
