Pamela Lee Tabel, 71, passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, surrounded by family at her home in Brentwood, California.
She was born on Nov. 16, 1948, to Barbara and Bill Young in San Diego. She traveled the world as an “Army brat,” eventually returning to California for her senior year of high school. After raising four children and working as an accountant in Silicon Valley, she decided to follow her passion, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree and a teaching credential in 2001.
In 2003, she was hired by Granada High School in Livermore to teach ceramics art. She taught at Granada for 12 years. One of her proudest achievements was creation of the art wall on the science building at the school.
Pamela retired at 66, spending her days with her grandkids and family, serving on the Brentwood (California) Art Commission, working with the Art Guild of the Delta in Brentwood, and continuing to share her love of ceramics with the local community and the Los Medanos College ceramics program.
She is survived by her husband, Roger G. Tabel; a sister, Patricia A. Grier; children Matthew W. Garst, Rachel M. Garst Page, and Matthew A. Tabel; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy C. Tabel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Summerset 1 Clubhouse, 1675 Crispin Dr., Brentwood. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in her memory to the Granada High School Art Education Program.
