Vernon Richard “Rich” Claeys passed away peacefully in his home of 40 years on the evening of May 6, 2019. Rich was born November 19, 1942, to Vernon and Jessie Claeys in Oakland, Calif., and was laid to rest on June 6, 2019, at the Sacramento National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.
Rich served in the Army from 1959-1963. In 1963 he started his 46-year career as Office & Warehouse manager for Hewitt Robins and Dresser Industries & Jeffery Chain, located in San Leandro, Hayward, and later Stockton.
Rich loved to ride dirt bikes, but what he loved most was waterskiing and boating.
His true legacy is memorialized by two values: first, he was a hard worker and great leader; and second, he loved deeply and had a huge heart for his family and friends. Always the gentlemen, he had a sense of humor and was compassionate.
Rich was preceded in death by parents Vernon and June Claeys, mother Jessie Claeys, and brother Edward Claeys.
He is survived by his son Robert Harvey, sister Sharon Hernandez, brother Grant Claeys, nieces Deborah Bailey and Kimberly Sheehan, three grandchildren, a nephew, three nieces, and two great-nephews and a great niece, as well as his two cats Socks and Squeakers.
Rich deeply loved, was deeply loved, and is greatly missed.
